SV Faraway Renamed

We finally managed to stick on the new name. It was pretty tricky especially with rainy weather and light breezes. Ian was the main 'sticker' guy and was upside down for most of the proceedings. Faraway is now officially renamed. Her stern is 'Faraway of Newcastle'. This port name doubles for the UK side and the Australian side of the family.

Beautiful Sunset

The weather was cooler in September but we saw some amazing sunsets (when it wasn't raining).

Visitors from Saudi

We were very fortunate to have Colin and Sue drop by and they brought along a bottle of great Australian red wine which we enjoyed at sunset. Seems to be a theme developing here. It was really lovely to catch up with them both.

Visitors

Glenn and Lynne came down to visit and spend the day on Faraway. It was great catching up with them and we had more champagne! Sadly Glen's sense of humour hasn't got any better but he kept us rolling in laughter with his naughty swan and bad attitude antics. Also shown in the photo is the new ship mascot - a dancing shrimp. Thanks Glen.

Sailing

With the sails out we got to see a bit of the southern England sea scape and muddy bottoms...dreaming of warmer climates.

Team Hats

Joanne and Pat helped celebrate and provided SV Faraway Team hats for us to keep on board. It was nice having them along. Paul from Pondlife also came on board to help celebrate and stayed on for roast dinner. We gained a lot of useful sailing information based on his cruising experiences in the Med.

Re-naming Ceremony "SV Faraway"

More glamorous beverage this time! In order to appeal to the wind gods and whatever other ones are out there we bought a 26 pound bottle of Moet and poured it all out over the bow. It will hopefully do the job of keeping us protected.

Denaming Ceremony September 2010

Not as glamorous as the naming ceremony but had to be done...we thought beer was the appropriate beverage!
