Australia Day

Safely in Simpson Bay Marina we were able to celebrate Australia Day. I raised the Australian flag and it was amazing how many other fellow Aussies we met that day, mainly because I insisted on wearing my Aussie hat all day. We celebrated with a roast chicken dinner that evening and a bottle of Australian Shiraz. Besides the occasion we had a pretty frustrating day. Ian had to change 6 batteries and was upside down under the kitchen floor most of the time. He also got arced a few times by letting the wires touch each other - ouuch. The job took about 4 long hours but despite the set backs I think we now have working batteries. The next evening we went to Bill Seiferts boat for dinner with some of his friends. We met Bill when we arrived at the marina and he gave us a tour of his yacht. It turns out he has written a book called 'Offshore Sailing' with 200 essential tips! Bill was a really nice guy and it's funny how fate brings together the people you really need at times. He cooked awesome ribs, loved all kinds of rum and was a wealth of knowledge on any sailing question we had. The photo shows Bill with his famous book and the group of sailors and visitors he had over the night we were invited.
